Performing Arts

New York - the liveliest and most exciting city in the world - offers Performing Arts students a unique opportunity to experience their subject at the acknowledged global centre of theatre, art, media, business and entertainment.

Give your students the opportunity to experience this spectacular city and visit its world famous sights – the Statue of Liberty, the Empire State Building, Madison Square Garden, Broadway, Brooklyn Bridge and Wall Street.

Popular with student groups, a recommended way to see some of the sights is on a New York City Sightseeing Cruise. Lasting just under 2 hours it includes close up views of the Statue of Liberty, you’ll head down the Hudson, around the Battery, up the East River and under the Brooklyn, Manhattan and Williamsburg Bridges to the United Nations and back.

New York is also home to some of the world’s leading museums – the Museum of Modern Art, the Guggenheim Museum, the Museum of Immigration on Ellis Island – the United Nations Headquarters, the world renowned Broadway theatres and the Wall Street financial district.

In addition to the famous sites and attractions you and your students will have chance to explore at your own pace, parts of the city such as Times Square, Greenwich Village, Fifth Avenue, Chinatown and Central Park, which will all provide new experiences that will stimulate and inspire them.

Our 5, 6 or 7 day tours ensure that you have enough time to explore this remarkable city and to visit its incredible sights and attractions. Our range of educational programmes and visits will ensure that your students gain the maximum benefit from their time away and return with a real understanding of how their classroom studies apply to life in New York.

01 Tour Highlights

Broadway Show Tickets

Study Experiences is able to arrange high quality tickets to Broadway shows. You are able to choose from a wide range of shows. Popular choices have included Chicago, Wicked, The Lion King, Jersey Boys, Aladdin, Mamma Mia!, School of Rock and Phantom of the Opera. Naturally, ticket prices vary for different shows and also based on the seating area, therefore our Programme Manager will be pleased to discuss your show choices and budget.

Making a Scene Workshop

Professional actors or teaching artists will advise you on acting choices, vocal techniques and character development designed to encourage bold and creative acting choices. Working from a scripted scene, the focus in this workshop is on interpreting and bringing text to life in truthful, imaginative and specific ways.

Acting Audition Workshop

The workshop gives students the knowledge of how important first impressions are when entering the audition room for the first time. This workshop will focus on the monologue, cold readings and stage presence. The session kicks off with an interactive group activity, and then works on specific material focusing on making choices while in an audition situation.

Step by Step Workshop

Students have the opportunity to experience many different Broadway dance styles. This session can be taught by a performer from a show the group is seeing and feature choreography from that show. Other options for this workshop include a professional dance audition or a specific type of dance (tap, modern, hip hop, etc).
