Design & Technology Experiences in London

London is a great destination for students, offering a wide range of highly enjoyable educational visits, excursions and activities, within easy reach of your school or college. We offer students the opportunity to experience the role and impact of design and technology in London.

01 Tour Highlights

London is home to the UK's most renowned galleries and museums; great sporting venues - Wembley Stadium, Twickenham, Wimbledon, Lord's - the renowned West End theatres and a vast array of world famous sights and attractions. You and your students will have the chance to visit a wide number of them and take part in specialist educational programmes, which will all provide new experiences that will stimulate and inspire them, such as:

Design Museum

Established over 22 years ago by Terence Conran, the Design Museum has championed creative thinking and inspired problem solving, celebrating design as an integral part of everyday life. The museum's Design & Creativity Workshops offer hour-long hands-on sessions, combining observation, product handling, drawing, discussion and problem-solving.

Fashion and Textile Museum

The museum aims not just to display and collect items relating to fashion, jewellery and textile design, but to offer inspiration to a new generation of creatives. A range of talks and workshops drawing on the Museum's prevailing exhibition or the unique fashion and textile collection can be tailored to each group's requirements.

Thames Barrier

The Thames Barrier is one of the world's largest moveable flood barriers. Spanning 520 metres across the River Thames, it protects 125 square kilometres of central London from flooding. Visit the information centre to learn about how the Barrier was designed, built and works.

Tate Modern

Through gallery tours, free workshops and lively talks led by artists and gallery educators, students can explore their own responses to art works and increase their understanding of British and international art. Teacher-led visits are available year-round using the Tate's comprehensive resource packs.
