The 2010 Earth Summit
Climate Change Student Conference
For Sixth Form students
The Summit theme for 2010
is ‘Climate Change and Biodiversity'
The Earth Summit offers students the opportunity to participate
in a professionally organised conference that will provide
an in-depth analysis and discussion forum of the key issues relating
to the future
of our planet and the environment.
Your students will hear a range of presentations from subject
experts, including climate change scientists and environmental journalists. Students are also invited to make
their own short
presentation on the topics covered by the Summit.
Curriculum and Examination Benefits
The Summit will provide students with the opportunity to develop
their presentation and communication skills, as well as being
of direct value for a wide range of AS/A Level courses, in
particular Science and Geography, and it may even influence
their future career choices.
Student Participation
In 2010, students are invited to choose from three presentation
titles: - Importance of biodiversity - Reducing our personal footprint to zero - The impact of climate change on our community - Creative ways of persuading our parents or schools to reduce their carbon footprints
Their five-minute live presentations can include PowerPoint, video or a combination
of both and they will then be expected to answer questions
from our guest speakers and their fellow delegates.
